A Joyful Juneteenth is Underway!
If you don’t follow the Black Heritage Trail of NH’s social media or get their newsletter, you’re missing out on some great programming coming up! BHTNH’s Juneteenth celebration this year is focused on the connection between emerging DNA research and historic events in the Black community and features a workshop, keynote, drumming and dancing, and a concert with Broadway’s N’Kenge (hosted at The Music Hall!).
We are thrilled to collaborate with BHTNH again, this time on a show that will wow and inspire! A Joyful Juneteenth Celebration with N’Kenge will happen on Friday., June 18, live in the Historic Theater. Performing a selection of songs and readings, the evening will feature music by Aretha, Adele, Cole Porter, and the musical Wicked. You’ll leave the Hall “feelin’ good”!
Not familiar with Juneteenth? Attend our virtual event on June 3 with Pulitizer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed with her new book, On Juneteenth. She’ll be in conversation with Dr. Reginald Wilburn from UNH to talk about being a native Texan and the complexity behind the history of the day.
On June 17, get dancey with us and the “John Legend of rockabilly,” Dwayne Haggins! We had so much fun at his LUTA show last year, we’re thrilled to have him back on our stage! And again, don’t miss the epic concert with N’Kenge and her band, as we join up with BHTNH for a celebration!
