Au Revoir Mary Poppins
These past two weeks have been a whirlwind adventure! From relearning the show to tech-ing to opening, it’s been full throttle. And then, all of a sudden, it’s closing time! However, nothing felt rushed, and sometimes it even felt like time slowed down. We were afforded opportunities to enjoy performing the show, the beautiful towns of Portsmouth and Ogunquit, and the company of each other. This cast and crew are my family, and will always hold a special place in my heart.
The audiences were enthralled with the show, and their energy catapulted our performances to new levels. Sharing the magic of the show (especially Bert’s proscenium walk and the snow at the end, which I was lucky to be onstage for) were priceless moments. It makes all of the sweat and hard work completely worthwhile.
After the closing performance, the show is loaded out of the theatre. Costumes, wigs, scenery, props, and everything in-between are packed up. This requires many dedicated individuals’ labor, so a shout-out to all of them, without whom the show would not be possible.
Returning to Cherry Tree Lane was an incredible experience, and one I will never forget. Many thanks to The Music Hall, Ogunquit Playhouse, and cast, crew, audience members, and everyone who was a part of this journey. Now, I am back in New York City, ready for the next adventure! Happy holidays and have a wonderful New Year!!
With a good deal of love,
Kory
