Tips and tricks for the 26th annual Kitchen Tour

It’s that time of year again, it’s the week of the Kitchen Tour. This year, I’m sidelined with my broken ankle (but I will say my fabulous cast was decorated by Ashleigh Tucker Pollock, our force behind the tour) so I won’t be able to join in on all of the fun, so I thought I’d share some helpful hints. This year, we’re touring the Little Harbour neighborhood,  just steps from downtown Portsmouth. Read More Read More

Three summer shows you don’t want to miss In Brief

Three summer shows you don’t want to miss

You may have noticed that there are three shows in this enews that you didn’t see in your copy of the Monthly Magazine. I have to be honest, I’m not sure what one of these shows I’m more excited to see. As I have been a bit out of commission this week with a broken ankle (don’t worry I’m doing okay, and even have a hot pink bedazzled cast) I’ve had some time to do some research on these new shows for you. Learning to Connect with the Met

I hate to admit it, but I’ve never seen a Met Broadcast at The Music Hall. I go in and give the welcome speech, but slip out as just as the music starts to swell. Now, as we are announcing our next Met season, I figured this was the perfect time to experience my first show and learn a little bit about the opera.  Read More Read More

Let’s Be Helpers

For those of you who know me, you’ve heard me go on and on about the many wonderful qualities of the State Street Saloon, I would refer to it as my living room. It was my home away from home, where I celebrated every birthday and life milestone, where I spent my football Sunday’s, where I drowned my sorrows, and most importantly, where I found my Portsmouth family. It’s a bar, just a building, and everyone is safe no one was hurt. It’s the mantra that I keep repeating to myself. It’s sad, it’s the end of something that I can’t describe, and I all I lost was my favorite bar. So many others lost so much more. Read More Read More

Desk Tour: Wesley Lovell

This week as I was trying to figure out what to write my blog about, I realized that I hadn’t take you all on a desk tour in almost a year. So I dug up my questions and headed over to the Box Office to visit Wes and to interrogate, or interview him about his desk. Thankfully, Wes is a good sport, and very used to having to do crazy social media things for me, so he took some time to answer my questions. Check out our conversation below, and next time you’re at the box office say hi! Read More Read More

Join us for our First Saturday

One of the benefits that every member gets is access to tickets before the general public. On the first Saturday of each month, NEW shows go on sale to members at 10am for walk-up at the B2W Box Office, at noon for phone and internet sales. If you haven’t yet been to a First Saturday, they’re a fun social way to get your tickets before anyone else, while mingling with members of The Music Hall staff and other members. Go inside this year’s Kitchen Tour

One of the first things that I really knew about The Music Hall was that they put on an annual Kitchen Tour. Thinking about it as I write this week’s blog, it’s kind of funny seeing how I very rarely spend any time in my own kitchen. Each year, I’d gather up a group and we’d make a day of it.  It was always interesting to see what the inside of these houses and condos that I had walked or driven past for years really looked like.
