When I first heard that there was a possibility of Judy Blume coming to the Historic Theater I couldn’t contain my excitement. Judy Blume was as much a part of my childhood as peanut butter and jelly and summer camp. From the adventures of Fudge, to coming of age with Margaret, she was always there with life advice and humor. On July 14th, she’ll be here with her newest book, The Unlikely Event, an adult novel that takes us back to 1950s Elizabeth, New Jersey, where real-life tragedy strikes as a series of airplanes fall from the sky, leaving the community reeling. A perfect quick summer read that reminds you why you fell in love with her writing in the first place.
