This month, we are so fortunate to be chosen by our local Hannaford Supermarket (800 Islington St, Portsmouth), to be the recipient of their Bags for a Cause program. This fabulous program is super easy to participate in. All you have to do is go to the Hannaford on Islington Street and purchase the reusable bag pictured above. Each bag purchased this month, equals a dollar donation to us here at TMH.Read More

When I encounter Jackie Gadsden and Laurel Dunn in the coffee shop to talk about this article, I find them deep in conversation with a gentleman seated at their table. As he got up to leave, I was surprised to hear them exchange “nice to meet yous.” Apparently, he was in town from Hawaii visiting family and had tripped on his way into the shop. The three of them struck up a conversation that led to an invitation to their table. If you ever trip grabbing your morning coffee in downtown Portsmouth, I highly recommend running into Jackie and Laurel. There couldn’t be two more friendly, interesting, and charming women to help get your day back on track.Read More

This year, as we begin to celebrate our 30th anniversary as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, I’m reminded just how far The Music Hall has come over the last three decades. When I saw my first show at our Historic Theater, it looked a lot different than it does today. The lower lobby didn’t exist, the inside of the theater was painted paper white and peeling off on patrons, our chandelier was a trash can lid with floodlights in it, and our marquee was made of particle board. We knew this theater had great bones, and it was time to think about how we were going to preserve her.Read More

As the curtain rises on the tale of two former WWII platoon buddies teaming up with fellow veterans of the 151st Division to aid their retired General, 100 of New Hampshire’s esteemed veterans will be in the audience. Together, they’ll experience the magic, camaraderie, romance, and hilarity of this classic story. Thanks to the generous gift of Jim Teetzel of Wilcox Industries and Michael Kane of The Kane Company, Veterans Count received tickets to Irving Berlin’s White Christmas to distribute to honored veterans for the Wednesday, November 29 performance.Read More

For the last two decades, the Warren Miller Ski film has come to our Historic Theater the week of Thanksgiving. Each year, for three days, we follow the athletes team as they take us on their ski adventures all around the world. This year’s film “Line of Descent, presented by Volkswagen” takes us to Squaw Valley, Jackson Hole, Norway, the French Alps, British Columbia, Steamboat Springs, New Zealand, and some other skiing venues.Read More

It’s that time of year again, it’s time for me to pull out my baking pans, remember how to use my oven, and start building my Gingerbread House. For those of you who know me personally, or have been following this blog for awhile, you know that I take this competition very seriously, I’m even a member of the committee that runs the competition. I’ve built a first draft of my model, I’ve reached out to expert bakers for tips and tricks (and I want to send a very big THANK YOU to Popovers on the Square for ALLLLLLL of their help!), and roped in some coworkers.Read More
