Jaw-dropping homes on Kitchen Tour’s special 25th Anniversary Event

That’s right. It’s the annual Kitchen Tour to benefit The Music Hall, and this year we are happily celebrating our 25th Anniversary.

Come join us. Join the thousands who already have visited kitchens – fantastic and futuristic, compact and spacious, contemporary and historic – in so many towns along the Seacoast.

What a great run it has been, and it all began in 1992, when some friends of The Music Hall brought the idea of a kitchen tour to life. The first tour took place in Portsmouth, on a fairly dreary day. Still, the tour was a hit.

It has only grown in popularity. Keep that in mind and buy your tickets early for this year’s special 25th Anniversary Kitchen Tour. We are returning to downtown Portsmouth, where lucky ticket holders will stroll from home to beautiful home on May 7, from 10 am to 4 pm.

That building on State Street you never noticed?  Past its courtyard, through the door, just to the right is a kitchen that’s brimming with 17th- and 18-century antiques. That non-descript door you’ve walked by on Ladd Street?  Up the stairs are two condos that will knock your socks off. Think only cool restaurants have the great views of the Piscataqua?  Think again. Two of the kitchens on this year’s tour look out across that beautiful river.

And there’s more. Much more. Check back to this space for regular sneak peeks of what’s to see on this year’s Kitchen Tour. And keep this in mind:  The Music Hall’s patrons contribute more than $7 million annually to the local economy through non-show related spending. Your participation in this important fundraiser for The Music Hall makes a difference to your community.

By the way, if you like to cook in kitchens as well as tour through them, we have published a first-ever commemorative cookbook, another way we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of this great event. Get yours now at The Music Hall’s box office or website.

The year 1992, when the first Kitchen Tour was held, was only five years after a group of community-minded supporters saved The Music Hall from a wrecking ball. Today, the Historic Theatre and The Loft are integral parts of the Seacoast’s cultural scene. And the Kitchen Tour itself has become a rite of spring for so many. See you on May 7!
