Explore & Learn at The Music Hall Spring Lineup
From there, our next master class was held on May 14 with the legendary dance troupe, Momix, and 15 students from UNH and Great Bay Academy of Dance. According to Ashleigh Tucker, General Manager, “It’s always a great experience when a great organization such as The Music Hall can reach out to local artistic students to offer them such a positive and personal opportunity to benefit their education and training.” After the class, the students were invited to see the Momix performance on stage at the Historic Theater – a move Ashleigh applauded, “Witnessing any dancer’s rise to a professional dance career is important to any student dancer.”
From there, Explore & Learn launched the Opera Circle at the Loft on April 27. Met @ The Music Hall subscribers, sponsors and major donors joined local opera experts Susan Tuveson and Angelynne Hinson in a preview and discussion of the 2011-12 Met @ The Music Hall season. Watch for more social, fun and informative Opera Circle events to be announced throughout the year!
Then, Jazz Day was held on May 6 in conjunction with Jazz Night @ the Music Hall Loft, in which instructors from Portsmouth Music and Arts Center performed for 130 students at Little Harbor School in Portsmouth. A music discussion and workshop with students followed the performance.
We rounded out our Spring Explore & Learn programming with the May Wildcard Movie at the Historic Theater, Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us? about colony collapse disorder. Over 250 people attended the film which was followed by a discussion and Q&A with the president and vice-president of The Seacoast Beekeepers Association of NH.
