Fun Shows All Summer Long!
Summer at The Music Hall truly lives up to the saying “Summertime and the living is easy.” We invite you to head to either theater, sit back in a comfy seat, relax in the A/C, and enjoy a show!
For film offerings, Throwback Thursdays feature classics like The Blues Brothers and Alien. More great Wildcards come to the big screen too, including The Cure: Anniversary Concert, Between Me and My Mind, and the Grateful Dead Meet-up. Our Innovation + Leadership film series continues with the nature documentary The Serengeti Rules. We’ll be extending the Met Opera programming for the first time ever to feature their Summer Encores including La Bohème and Aida. And back by popular demand, Benedict Cumberbatch’s turn in NTLive: Hamlet returns to the screen! And July 23 brings the kickoff of our next Film Club: 1939: Hollywood’s Greatest Year, as host Jeannie MacDonald leads us down the Yellow Brick Road to The Wizard of Oz.
For live events, you can look forward to some new and exciting acts as well as old favorites. DJ Logic mixes jazz with hip hop in a special Dance & Listening Party on stage at the Historic Theater. Innovative bands hit the Loft, including The Small Glories, Y La Bamba, and The Gibbonses, as well as solo acts J. Hoard and Sam Amidon. Brett Dennen returns to the Hall on 8/2 on his aptly named “Vacationer Tour” and Straight No Chaser comes back for TWO nights—8/7 and 8/8. If literature and summer reading is more your style, don’t miss Liza Wieland’s take on Elizabeth Bishop’s time in France with Paris 7 A.M. or Meg Mitchell Moore’s The Islanders. Dr. Inna Khazan will share some nifty tricks in her book Biofeedback and Mindfulness in Everyday Life. And following the first showing of Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, stay for a Q&A with one of the producers of the film, Sandra Guzmán.
*deep breath* Ok, I think that’s everything for now. Check out our calendar for the full schedule and sign up for enews (particularly the Weekender email, which will give you a heads up of what’s coming soon)!
