Join us for our Community Open House
They say it takes a village, but in The Music Hall’s case it took a community. Brick by brick (some sold at the famed Portsmouth Farmers’ Market) they rebuilt, enhanced, and transformed a theater seemly at the end of its lifespan back to an American Treasure. Today we celebrate our award winning Founders Lobby that delights and amazes both locals and tourists, our beautifully restored upper lobby and Historic Theater that take you back to the heyday of the theater, and who can forget the stunning chandelier that has a history as entertaining as the theater’s (you’ll have to take the tour to hear about that though).
We’ve come so far over the last couple of decades because of this wonderful community that we are a part of and as a staff we are truly grateful. We are so lucky to have over 60 community partners that we collaborate with. This past spring we hosted an event for Arts in Reach to celebrate young women in the arts, we teamed up with the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation to present the documentary She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry followed by an expert panel discussion, and had Portsmouth Music and Arts students kick off our Portsmouth Singer Songwriter Festival with their Songwriters in the Round performance and those are just a few examples of our rewarding partnerships.
To celebrate our rich history, we are opening our doors to welcome the community that saved us, restored us, and grew with us, for our Open House on Saturday. We’ll be giving our free famed historic tours and popular tech tours, as well as free showing the beloved Disney film UP at the Historic Theater, and the Pete Squires Band will be playing over at the Loft. Take a look at the full schedule of events here.
I hope to see you on Saturday to celebrate our most important partnership, the one we have with all of you.
