Kitchen Pizazz with a Purpose
If you like to cook, you spend a fair amount of time in your kitchen. And if you spend a fair amount of time in your kitchen, it’s important that you like the space.
One of the homeowners on this year’s Kitchen Tour to Benefit The Music Hall liked her previous kitchen so much, she used it as inspiration when she remodeled her Portsmouth home a few years back. Her old kitchen had a banquette, a couch seating area, and French doors that opened to the back. Her new kitchen, in a beautiful home built in 1900, has a banquette, a couch seating area, and French doors that open to the back.
Let me tell you, though, this gorgeous kitchen has a lot more than that going for it. If these folks ever move again, they’ll no doubt want to duplicate every last detail in this inviting space.
The eye-popping Calcutta Gold granite countertops have such pizazz. The homeowners love them and their guests notice them right off. What you’ll notice right away is the huge and beautifully crafted farmer’s table that sits in the middle of this good-sized kitchen. It’s made of natural cherry and is representative of the kind of care and detail-mindedness that went into designing and furnishing this kitchen. Everything works.
You’ll love the Subzero refrigerator with a see-through door. It sits adjacent to a clever cabinet that houses, among other things, the all-important coffee station and toaster. Breakfast must be such a pleasure in this home.
Speaking of clever, and details, and important, there is a drawer for spices. And one for bread. And some for dishes. A place for everything, and everything in its place.
This kitchen not only has all these very cool parts, but it also has this sense of being a very cool whole. Design vision produced a complete room that is interesting from top to bottom and end to end. You’ll love the floating shelves, the boldly teal butler’s pantry that connects the kitchen space to the dining room, and the perfect choice of art pieces.
The natural light pouring in from the big windows shines brightly upon this lovely kitchen. And while this entire home is quite nice, I’d have to think this is where I’d spend most of my time if I lived here. Beautiful. Comfortable. Perfect.
This Lincoln Avenue kitchen is one of 11 on this year’s annual Kitchen Tour. It’s on Saturday, May 12 from 10am to 4 pm. That’s the day before Mother’s Day, by the way. How pleased would your mother be to be given tickets to this popular event, now in its 27th year? Read more on the tour here.
I’ve mentioned here before that the programs this year have an area in which to jot notes about your favorite kitchens. This beaut on Lincoln is going to get your design senses spinning.
