Let’s Talk
This became a topic of conversation here in the Marketing Department. With more questions than answers, our marketing director, Monte Bohanan, decided to make it the next topic in the Let’s Talk About series (part of the Innovation + Leadership series). If you’re not yet familiar with this new series, it takes issues that are making headlines both here in our community and nationally, brings in experts in the field, and invites the community to come and talk about solutions to these issues.
As we got to talking about the Stanford story, we then began to talk about what had happened at Saint Paul’s School, and what is currently going on a Phillips Exeter. Each story revolved around consent, one party believed they had both given it the other did not. The question then became, how do we talk about consent. What constitutes consent, how do we educate people about it, and most importantly, how do we create a culture of consensual respect?
Tonight, we’re going to tackle these issues. We’ll be joined by, representatives from HAVEN (the largest violence prevention and support services agency in NH) and the University of New Hampshire, Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program, moderated by the series co-curators Crystal Paradis and Monte Bohanan. As the tagline for this series is “it all starts with a conversation” we hope that you will join us at 6pm tonight.
