Pro tips for Portsmouth Restaurant Week

I know that this week can seem a little overwhelming, so I pulled together some tips to help you get the most out of Restaurant Week.

  • First and foremost, make reservations. Even if you are planning on going on a weeknight it’s still always a good idea. Some of these restaurants are small and all of them will be very busy. Making reservations ensures you have a table and won’t be subjected to a long wait.
  • Have lunch at the River House and enjoy the view of the Tug Boats while eating their award winning Seafood Chowder in the family friendly restaurant. Pro tip, you can sit outside year round on the heated balcony.
  • If you’re joining us for one of the three District Restaurant Singer Songwriter Series shows during this time – Tiger Saw, The Blue Ribbons, or Dear Criminals – check out The District Restaurant before or after the show. Their kitchen is open until midnight and is the perfect post show dinner spot. Pro tip, save room for dessert, the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies will knock your socks off.
  • In town for our Intimately Yours: Solid Soul, featuring Mavis Staples & Joan Osborne? Check out The Rosa where you can choose any of their regular menu entrees. Pro tip, this is the perfect place if you are craving comfort food.
  • Over at Rudi’s you can sit at the chic modern Wine Bar or the classic elegant dining room right in the heart of Market Square. Pro tip, start off with a drink in the wine bar and move to dinner in the dining room to take advantage of both spaces in one visit.
  • For a casual dining experience, head over to the Portsmouth Brewery, which is pairing their entrees with a 3 beer sampler. Pro tip, don’t miss out on their mussels.
  • If you haven’t tried Louie’s this is the perfect time to pop in. This sleek restaurant specializes in rustic Italian food and homemade pastas. Pro tip, don’t miss out on the Pappardelle, their homemade pasta with roasted mushrooms.
  • If you’re planning on trying the brand new Franklin Oyster House, try to get there in time for happy hour. During happy hour, select oysters are just $1.25 and $0.25 comes back to The Music Hall. Pro tip, make sure to try the Oyster Stew and the Salmon Pastrami.

Enjoy!
