Racing towards a gold medal fall
As I sat down to write today’s blog, I kept drifting back to the Olympics. I’ve asked my co-workers what Olympian they would be, lobbied to have a Music Hall Olympic Games, and then it occurred to me, The Music Hall is kind of like a year round Olympics.
I know, I know, this feels like a little bit of a stretch, but if you think about it, the Olympics are world class athletes and we present world class entertainment. These athletes are painstakingly selected by each sport to create the best teams for each event. Our curation team works to find the best acts that will not only inspire you and entertain you, but ones that will stick with you long after the lights go back up.
As those of you who read my blog know, my feelings about the shows here at TMH are pretty similar to how I feel about the Olympics. I’ve been transported to lunch with Truman Capote and his Society Swans with Melanie Benjamin, I’ve danced with the Gypsy Kings at the Historic Theater, I’ve been awed by John Moreland and Air Traffic Controller at the Loft, laughed till I cried with Trevor Noah, and I’m still reeling from everything about meeting Judy Blume.
As the Olympics come to a close, and I can return to my social media streams without fear of having something spoiled for me, I start to prepare for the next round of TMH events including perhaps my favorite, Telluride by the Sea. Make sure to keep your eye out for our September NOW to see what we’ve got planned for this fall. I promise it will be just as full of memorable moments as this year’s Olympics are.
