Social on the Seacoast: Al Green Director’s Club Gathering! Another fab Music Hall evening on 8/28

When I recently did background research on Al, I was struck by how profound his musical influence has been. This guy really IS a legend. It turned out I was more familiar with his hit songs than I had realized —who among us of a certain age doesn’t remember “Tired of Being Alone,” “Let’s Stay Together,” “I’m Still in Love With You,” etc. etc— the list goes on and on.

And no less than President Obama attested to the longevity of Green’s music when he began a talk at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in January by singing a few lines from “Let’s Stay Together.”

At 66, Al is no spring chicken, and you might wonder if he’s still got it. According to the rave reviews he’s been garnering on his tour this summer— you bet he does. “His voice sounded great, and he moved around the stage like a man half his age,” said Dan Nailen in Salt Lake Magazine on July 28. “…he hit some stratospheric highs and delivered some seriously sexy growls that could have come straight out of Green in the ‘70s.”

Tickets are going fast, but there are still some seats available. “It’s a rare treat to get up close and personal with Al Green in a theater of our size, and with our superb acoustics,” says The Music Hall’s Executive Director and Lead Curator Patricia Lynch. “I urge people not to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s the best way to celebrate a special occasion in the month of August!”

And, like icing on the cake, the day of Al’s performance is also the Music Hall’s second Director’s Club gathering at the Loft, prior to show time. The Director’s Club is a new member benefit for those at the $500 level and up. Consider the benefits—you can not only feel good about the contribution you make to the arts and to the community, but you can also enjoy these exclusive get-togethers at the Loft’s chic blue bar on Congress Street.

Can’t wait to see you there!
