Spring Restaurant Tips and Tricks
For this week’s blog, I thought I would share some helpful tips for navigating Restaurant Week here in Portsmouth.
Make sure to make reservations. It’s a great deal to get three courses for that price point and a lot of people like to take advantage of it. Meaning restaurants will fill up on Friday and Saturday nights. You don’t want to miss out on any of these great menus and a reservation will ensure you get to experience it.
Check out the menus online. The Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce does a great job getting menus posted and giving you a little description about each restaurant.
Try out the lunches. Restaurants such as The Rosa and the Portsmouth Brewery are offering great options. Lunches tend to be a little less busy and still allow you to get the whole experience with really fun menus.
Be adventurous! The Chefs who create these menus spend a lot of time thinking about them. Try something you might not have ordered before.
Adventure outside of Downtown. The Atlantic Grill is offering both lunch and dinner menus. Check out their jellyfish tank while you’re there and take advantage of the free parking.
Are you a fan of Jumpin’ Jay’s? Check out their three sister restaurants, Vida Cantina (an inventive Mexican restaurant), Moxy (a Portsmouth favorite, with a really clever Restaurant Week menu), or the Franklin Oyster House (who offers a $1.25 Oyster happy hour 7 days a week).
Looking for dinner with a view? Check out Martingale Wharf and watch the beloved tug boats navigate the Piscataqua.
Also, keep in mind that Rudi’s is one of the only places that has it’s own parking lot for their patrons.
Joining us for Yo La Tengo? Try out The District Restaurant right at the base of Chestnut Street.
With over 50 restaurants participating, the options are just about endless. Enjoy the week—well nine days!
