The Big Easy Comes to Portsmouth Friday

So I was thinking oh this will be fun to see what these old pros are up to but I what I didn’t expect was how fresh they sounded. They have a new red-head member (Ben Jaffe) on tuba who is a party in horn instrument.  Carnegie Hall was full of people of all ages feeling the Big Easy come to life. So when we got the opportunity to bring them to The Music Hall before their Newport Folk Festival appearance I was all over that.  See the links, make some jambalaya Friday night and catch the show!

“We’re looking to give you an authentic New Orleans musical experience. We’re looking to transport you to another city and another time. Which is precisely how you feel when you’re actually in New Orleans. You don’t know what time it is. Time washes away and becomes irrelevant. It’s about being in the moment and feeling that sense of community. That’s what makes it magical.”

Preservation Hall’s creative director (and tuba player), Ben Jaffe, quoted in the Portsmouth Herald interview by Chris Hislop.
