Winter and Vintage Christmas is coming…
For those of you who don’t yet know me personally, over the last couple of years, I have developed a, well, let’s call it a fixation, on building Gingerbread houses. This is due in part to my very competitive nature as well as the fact that The Discover Portsmouth Center hosts the Annual Gingerbread House Competition. Each year, my friends and coworkers suffer through my planning, building, and then lobbying for votes.
As someone who doesn’t count cooking as one of their talents, many of my friends are a little mystified that I willingly fire up my oven and spend three weeks baking, building, and decorating my creation. As a good marketer, my theme is always The Music Hall. Never one to back down from a challenge, I decided that the first gingerbread house that I would ever build should be a replica of our Historic Theater. After a lot of research and many phone calls to chefs that I know, I managed to bake four sides and put together something that resembled the HT. Last year, I tackled the Loft and thought it would be fun to make not just the outside, but the inside… complete with a band.
I’m already hard at work on what I’m going to create for this years house, and the competition committee (that I now sit on) is hard at work getting all of our ducks in a row so we can announce all of the details soon. Keep an eye out, start planning, and keep an eye on this blog for sneak peeks.
