Combo Sabroso Quartet (”tasty” combo) presents an uplifting and enticing mix of Latin, jazz, and reggae. Band leader Matt Jenson teaches piano and a class on Bob Marley at Berklee College of Music, tours internationally with the popular roots reggae band Groundation, and studied piano with el maestro Eddie Palmieri. He brings together his deep simpatico musical brothers: percussionist/singer Manolo Mairena (Costa Rica), bassist Winston Maccow (St. Marten) and Cuban trumpeter Yaure Muniz. They deliver inspired Latin-Jazz arrangements of songs from the likes of Marvin Gaye, Eddie Palmieri, Santana, and the Buena Vista Social Club while turning on a dime to hit you with Reggae-Jazz versions of hits by artists such as Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Bill Withers, Duke Ellington, Harry Belafonte, and a number of Matt’s original compositions. The music virtuosity in the band is as high as is their infectious love of collaboratively sharing their music with their audiences.
