Jill Sobule Presents: Songs From F! 7th Grade & More

Jill Sobule’s work is deeply personal and socially conscious, blending serious humor with tragic insights. Over three decades and a dozen albums, the Denver-born singer/songwriter has addressed topics like the death penalty, anorexia, LGBTQ issues, and the Christian Right. Her hits include “I Kissed A Girl,” the first openly gay-themed song to make the Billboard Top 20, and the alt-rock anthem “Supermodel” from Clueless. Sobule also co-created The Jill & Julia Show with actor Julia Sweeney. She is a pioneer in crowdfunding and continues to innovate in the music industry. Her latest album, Nostalgia Kills, was produced by Ben Lee and released on her own Pinko Records label.

Jill’s theater work includes a musical adaptation of Yentl, Prozak and the Platypus, and Times Square. In November 2019, she appeared as herself on The Simpsons. Her autobiographical musical F*ck 7th Grade, nominated for a Drama Desk award, premiered in 2022 and ran again in 2023 and 2024. It will be showcased at APAP 2025 in New York City. A cast recording is set for release on May 2, with singles planned for March, April, and May. She will also tour with “Jill Sobule presents: Music from F*ck 7th Grade & More” in 2025, aiming to present the full cast show during Pride Month. Her first new album in years will likely release in January 2026, with singles beginning in September 2025.

The New York Times describes her music as “grown-up music for an adolescent age.”
