Please note: in case of rain, this performance will be held in the Historic Theater with socially-distanced seating.
Join the Portsmouth Brass Quintet as they perform Live Under the Arch at The Music Hall. The PBQ will present a program of Americana perfectly suited for a summer evening. Alongside marches, quicksteps, rags, and polkas, the quintet will perform several selections from Broadway. Leonard Bernstein’s rhythmic score to West Side Story will be juxtaposed with the sultry melodies of George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and the wholesome tunes of Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man. Join us in downtown Portsmouth for a toe-tapping evening that is not to be missed!
The Portsmouth Brass Quintet is comprised of key brass players from the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble was founded by Adam Gallant in the fall of 2016 and is dedicated to performing serious brass chamber music at the highest level. The PBQ has performed recently on the Seacoast in Portsmouth, Kittery, Newington, Rye, Exeter, and Durham. In February 2018, they gave their debut recital at South Church in Portsmouth, featuring the works of Stravinsky, Gabrieli, Bach, Dahl, and Bernstein. The quintet is available for weddings, church services, education concerts, graduation ceremonies, and any other occasion calling for brass music.
